Manchester City took full advantage of being a man up to secure the win over Wolves

Raheem Sterling netted the 100th Premier League goal of his career to give Man City victory over 10-men Wolves, extending their lead at the top of the table.

Bernardo Silva had a curling effort on the edge of the box that went close, after Wolves left him unmarked with lots of space.

The first half looked like it would end uneventfully until Raul Jimenez picked up two yellow cards in swift succession.

After being booked for giving away a foul, he bizarrely intervened in the resulting free-kick being taken and then the Mexican forward was given his marching orders.
Wolves captain Conor Coady saved his side with a goal-line clearance after Ilkay Gundogan nodded a headed effort towards the back post.

On the hour mark, Joao Moutinho was judged to have handballed in his own area and Raheem Sterling calmly rolled the penalty down the middle to give Man City the lead.

Jack Grealish missed a sitter minutes later after Sterling fizzed in a sweet cross that should have doubled City's lead.

Wolves very nearly stole an equaliser in stoppage time as Max Kilman guided close-range header towards City's net but was denied by Ederson's quick reflections.
